Malta or Tenerife in winter: which one for a party trip, October to April

The weather, month by month

Average daily high and low, and average monthly rainfall, from each country's official weather service.

Two things to keep in mind. The Tenerife figures are AEMET's averages for 1981–2010 at Tenerife South airport, the closest station to the clubs; the Malta figures are the Malta Meteorological Office's averages for 1961–1990 at Luqa, published through the World Meteorological Organization. Different periods, so read them as a guide, not a forecast. And the gap is widest in the heart of winter: from December to March, Tenerife's daytime average is around six degrees higher.

What's on in Tenerife this winter

As of 12 October 2026, eleven weekly club nights are on sale, every one of them along Tenerife's southern coast.

• Tuesday: Mala Mía — Chicas al Poder.
• Wednesday: Papagayo — Move On (classics, funky and house) · WILD, Los Cristianos — Guayeteo (classic against current reggaeton), 23:00–04:00.
• Thursday: Papagayo — Follow (afro house and Latin tech) · Monkey Beach Club — The White Party (everyone in white), 22:30–03:45.
• Friday: Mala Mía — Nasty · Papagayo — La Loka (open format, reggaeton and urban).
• Saturday: Mala Mía — Urban Tenerife · Papagayo — Essence (tech house and house).
• Sunday: Papagayo — Piknik (house, disco and funk) · El Nido — Glow Night (Brazilian funk, dembow, reggaeton and urban).

Mondays are empty. Most series keep going until Christmas week, with final dates between 25 and 31 December 2026; three end in late November: Glow Night (29 November), the White Party (26 November) and Guayeteo (25 November). 31 December is a Thursday, so it's Follow at Papagayo. Papagayo itself has room for 1,500 people and came 76th in DJ Mag's 2026 ranking of the world's clubs.

What's on in Malta this winter

Malta's winter dates are Saturdays at Toy Room, in Paceville, plus two big nights already announced.

• Love Night, winter edition: 17 October and 14 November. Guests pick a coloured bracelet at the door to show if they are taken, single or there for one night only.
• Glow Night, winter edition: 24 October, then 7 and 21 November. A neon-lit night.
• Bad Bunnies, winter edition: 28 November, 23:00–04:00.
• Halloween: Saturday 31 October, announced, tickets not yet on sale.
• New Year's Eve: Thursday 31 December, announced, tickets not yet on sale.

Paceville, in St Julian's, is the area Malta's tourism authority calls its main entertainment district.

January to April 2027

Neither website has 2027 dates on sale yet (12 October 2026), so the weather table is the only firm data for those months. One pointer from last season: between February and April 2026 the Malta calendar had nights at Toy Room and TwentyTwo, a carnival masquerade and a Valentine's night, so Malta did not go quiet. Tenerife's series currently stop on 31 December 2026; any new ones will appear on its website first.

From the airport to the party

• Malta: from Malta International Airport to Paceville is about 11 km by road, around 16 minutes without traffic.
• Tenerife: from Tenerife South airport to Papagayo is about 19.5 km, around 19 minutes by road.

Both transfers are short, so a Friday-to-Sunday trip works in either.

So, which one? Month by month

• October. Both work, and October is Malta's warmest month of the seven (24.2°C average high). Malta has Toy Room on 17 and 24 October, then the Halloween night on the 31st; Tenerife has club nights every day except Monday.
• November. The month most people search for. Tenerife is almost five degrees warmer by day and has something every night except Monday all month, although three series end in the final week. Malta has a night at Toy Room every Saturday: 7, 14, 21 and 28 November.
• December. Tenerife's series run until Christmas week, and Follow covers New Year's Eve. Malta's New Year's Eve night is announced; nothing else is on sale there yet.
• January and February. Until dates appear, the weather decides: Tenerife's average high is over 21°C, Malta's around 15°C.
• March and April. Malta warms up (19.1°C in April) and had dates last spring; Tenerife stays the warmer of the two.
