When to visit Malta for a party trip: a summer peak, and nights all year

Updated 17 Oct 20265 min readMalta

Go in July or August. In 2026 we had a party in Malta on 30 nights in July and on every night of August, and the nights were the warmest of the year, with average lows of 21°C. June and September are the quieter edges of summer. From October to May Malta keeps going on a smaller scale: weekends in Paceville and the big dates.

Malta's party year in one table

The first column counts the nights of 2026 with at least one party of ours in Malta. The weather columns are the long-term averages from Malta's airport at Luqa.

Two jumps stand out: from 15 nights in May to 30 in June, when the summer starts, and from 19 in September to 6 in October, when it ends. The rain follows the same calendar the other way round, almost nothing from June to August and most of it from October to January.

July and August: the peak

This is when Malta does everything at once. Pool parties at Café del Mar in Qawra, every Thursday from 2 July in 2026; open-air nights at Gianpula Village; Sunday pool parties on the rooftop of Infinity by Hugo's; boat parties; and the clubs of Paceville on top of all that.

It is also when the big names come. In summer 2026 our calendar had Claptone and Bob Sinclar at Café del Mar, Sfera Ebbasta at Gianpula Village, Hugel at Fort Manoel and a Ferragosto night at Sky Club on 14 August.

Plan for heat: the average high is 30.7°C in both months and July is practically dry. Café del Mar's Thursday pool parties ran from 20:00 to 01:00 in 2026, early enough to carry on in a club afterwards.

June and September: the same summer, with more room

June 2026 had a party of ours on every one of its 30 nights, so it is no longer a warm-up month. It is a little cooler than July, with a 27.5°C average high.

September is the long goodbye. In 2026 it brought CamelPhat to Café del Mar on 7 September, Adriatique to The Ditch in Valletta on 20 September and three weekly nights at TwentyTwo until the end of the month: Ladies Night on Fridays, Starlight on Saturdays and The White Party on Sundays. The first autumn rain arrives too, about 40 mm across the month.

Malta in winter

From October the calendar shrinks to weekends, almost all of them in Paceville. This autumn that means a themed Saturday at Toy Room every week or two until 28 November, three Halloween nights on 30 and 31 October across TwentyTwo, Toy Room and Infinity by Hugo's, and New Year's Eve on Thursday 31 December.

January is the gap: in 2026 there was nothing of ours on the island until mid-February. December is also Malta's wettest month on average, with 112 mm of rain, so pack for showers as well as parties.

If you want a warmer winter break with more nights to choose from, compare Malta with Tenerife before you book.

Spring: February to May

The year restarts around Carnival and Valentine's Day. In 2026 the first parties were a Masquerade Carnival Party on 13 February and a Valentine's night at Toy Room the day after.

March and April add a few nights a month: themed nights at Toy Room, The White Party on the rooftop of Infinity by Hugo's, a boat party at Easter (4 April) and the first night of the year at Café del Mar on 18 April. May is the real start, with 15 nights in 2026, Friday parties at Gianpula Village from 22 May, and almost no rain.

How to plan around the calendar

  • For the most choice, pick a week in July or August and you will have something on every night.
  • For a weekend, look at Fridays and Saturdays outside the summer: that is when the off-season nights fall.
  • For one big night, build the trip around Halloween or New Year's Eve, and check the calendar first: details can come late. Two weeks before Halloween 2026, two of its three nights still had no prices.
  • For 2027, the summer dates are not out yet. Party Island Malta keeps a list that sends you the dates for your own travel days.
